Kim Jeffrey Kurniawan adalah seorang pesepak bola berkebangsaan Jerman yang lahir di Muhlacker, Jerman, yang memiliki keturunan Indonesia Saat ini memperkuat Persema Malang. Kim Jeffrey Kurniawan merupakan cucu Kwee Hong Sing yang merupakan mantan pemain Persija Jakarta dan Tim Nasional Indonesia di era 1950-an. Saat ini Kim Jeffrey Kurniawan tengah menjadi bahan pemberitaan diberbagai media di Indonesia terkait keinginannya untuk membela Timnas Sepak Bola Indonesia.
First of all, tell me about your football career so far..
I started playing football with the age of 4, with 6 I joined a soccer camp in which a big club saw me so I joined Karlsruher SC and played my whole junior career there. Unfortunately in my last year I got a big knee injury so the chance to play in the first or second division in Germany was over and I joined FC 07 Heidelsheim.
Why choose Persema?
Timo, the coach of Persema asked me to join Persema and I really love Indonesia since the first time I was there, this was in the year 2001 and then I got the chance to play in the country I always want to live so I took the chance and moved to Indonesia
What's your best position?
I can play nearly every position except of goalkeeper but my real position is central midfielder.
Does your style suit the Indonesian Super League, more so than Verbandsliga Nordbaden even?
Yes I think the style of playing I play fits better into the indonesian football I like to play short passes with full of speed so I think it's better for me to play in Indonesia than in Germany.
How is your Bahasa?
Aku sudah bisa bahasa indonesia, belum lancar tapi aku belajar terus
If you, someday, had a chance to join the Indonesia National Football Team, what would you do for this country?
It is my big dream to play one time for the timnas, I would be full of proud with the garuda on my chest and I hope I can support Indonesia to become a dominant nation in Asia.
Who influences you most?
On football, a friend of mine influences me very much. He was a great player, 4 years older than me in the youth he always trained with me but sadly he died a few years ago in a car accident so before a game I always think of him and pray that he give me power and his skills to play a good match.
What’s been the most difficult thing about moving to Malang?
The only difficult thing is that my family live vey far away from me so I miss them but all in all I'm very happy that I can live in indonesia now.
Describe the Persema Malang fans...
There are not that many Persema supporters but in the training there are always a few who wants to take photos and autographs, I'm always very happy if they want to take a picture with me, because I really like to have people around me who support me in the thing I do.
Who is the best player in the World?
I really like Xavi and Schweinsteiger, they are very good players one of the best in the world. But since this season, Kagawa from Dortmund is also one of my favorite players.
If you weren’t a footballer, what would you be doing?
I don't know, because I always played football my whole life so I always wanted to be a professional football player if I wouldn't be a football player I would continue my study "business management" and then work in a company.
Now I will play football in indonesia and beside I want to study also in indonesia but maybe after my football career there is a chance to become an artist hahaha
